Pottery

Pam’s clay journey began in high school where she learned to throw on a 2-speed Amaco standup wheel. After majoring in Art and Education at JMU, she taught public school for a few years. A summer as an intern in a production pottery made her realize she didn’t want to make multiples of anything, and she returned to school for a master’s in Educational Media and Instructional Design. She spent 30+ years in the corporate world, building training and performance support systems, but always managed to keep her hands in clay. Pottery became her therapy and her escape. A retirement gift of high-end carving tools encouraged her to expand her repertoire of straightforward, functional ware and she now embellishes her pieces with carving, alterations, and stenciled designs.
