Photography

My art genre is primarily nature photography. I started taking pictures as a child and even learned to develop and print photos in a basement darkroom my father built. A few of my snapshots actually turned out to be decent. I learned to actually use a camera after I retired. After many years, many course downloads, many workshops, many frustrating hours learning software tools, and most importantly many lousy photos, I believe I finally understand how to (attempt to) intentionally make decent photographs. My photographs reflect my fascination with the often ephemeral interplay I see between light, color, line, and texture. While I love the so-called grand landscape, many of my works emphasize small scenes. I find photography fascinating and frustrating and rewarding. Learning to photograph intentionally forced me to see, not just look, and I am grateful for this evolution in my life.
