Call for Artists: Join the 2026 Celebration of the Arts (COTA)

Every work of art begins with an idea and this fall, we invite you to share yours with the community.
The Guild is excited to announce that artist applications are now open for the 2026 Celebration of the Arts (COTA), taking place September 30 through October 3, 2026, at the Guild in downtown Rutherfordton.
COTA is one of the Guild's signature annual exhibitions, bringing together talented artists from across the region, though this time it will be four days of creativity, inspiration, and community. Visitors will enjoy original artwork, meet local artists, vote for their favorite pieces during People's Choice voting, and celebrate the incredible talent that makes our area's arts community so special.
Whether you're a returning exhibitor or considering participating for the first time, COTA is a wonderful opportunity to share your work with hundreds of visitors while connecting with fellow artists.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to artists working in a variety of mediums, including:
Painting
Sculpture
Photography
Mixed Media
Pottery
Drawing
Woodworking
Artists may submit up to 2 pieces of artwork.
Artist Information
Before applying, please note:
Artwork must be original.
Artwork must have been completed within the last four years.
Artwork previously shown in juried exhibition may be entered if it has not won an award.
Guild Members: $25 Entry Fee
Non-Members: $35 Entry Fee
Application Deadline: September 13, 2026

Throughout the event, visitors can:
Meet participating artists
Vote in the People's Choice Awards
Attend the Artists Reception on Friday, October 2 (5:00–7:00 PM)
View hundreds of original works from local and regional artists
People's Choice Award winners will be announced during the exhibition on Saturday, October 3. Cash prizes will be awarded in both the 2-D and 3-D categories, including Best in Show.
